ahh! no yangqin.
wow. this is like the first time i was so sure of wat i wanted. and so disappointed that i didnt. if u know me, im usually a person who cant decide wat i want. this time i wanted the yangqin. i had some doubts, like it would be expensive i think, difficult to transport ( when i went for audition the senior said we had to carry it on stage ourselves) an maybe hard to learn (but wat isnt?)
so on thursday my first CO session (i wouldnt call it a practice) we had 3 choices. mine was yangqin, liuqin and erhu. we had to audition for all3 in order of preference. anw, i learnt a few notes there and the tr said i played quite well. then she ask if i learnt piano then i said ya then she said 'nan guai!'so at the yangqin place there was only 2 people, me and a tiny girl called cherrie. (if u pronounce it as cherry i think it would be a very suitable name.) but there was only one vacancy left in yangqin. the tr said one was taken by a DSA student and the other MIGHT be taken by a transfer student. now i realise wat mrs lee meant when she didnt want to write appeal letters for us. DSA, transfer and appeal are like the same.. so, yangqin is out.
the liuqin is like tha pipa but smaller, in case u dunno. but it was really heavy! you hv to support it with your thumb while the whole thing rests on your lap. cos your other fingers hv to press the strings and your other hand has to strum. so, thats out.
erhu.. it was a interview and i totally screwed it. when she asked why you wanna join i was lazy to talk so i said i dunno. then i noticed her writing down on a paper all my answers! i scewed it righthh?!
then the results... i got into... CELLO! at first i was sad... i never thought of joining cello. i mean, it isnt even a chinese instrument! & besides, before that i never thought of why they didnt choose me so i couldnt understand why they didnt accept either of my choices! now i thought it all out, cello sounds quite cool, in a way.
then guess wat! this morning (last nite really, just that i was asleep) i saw a sms from the CO senior asking if i would mind changing to erhu. cos im in HMP, we hv to take some kind of exam with our 2nd instument, and the HMP tr who is the CO tr in charge said that erhu might be more suitable for me so she wants me to change! yaye! but i had this weird thought that the erhu teacher wontlike me cos i said i dunno... haiz. im not REALLY sure if its confirmed yet, anyway. but i think so.
